"I make up songs and sing'em for people whenever they let me."

Several people have told me that I have the heart and soul of a true storyteller. I'm flattered by that notion and like to think my songs are well grounded in traditional folk music with enough contemporary and unique elements to help keep them fresh.

I was born in Montgomery, AL;  raised in Augusta, GA;  graduated from the University of Georgia; moved to Atlanta and soon began performing as a solo artist. After a fairly successful year playing solo, I expanded my act and performed with bands for the next five years.  During that time, I was honored with a nomination for Female Vocalist of the Year from the Atlanta Society of Entertainers; but was far more proud of the fact that I worked consistently and successfully as a "gigging musician" during that entire period.  I put my "career" in music on hold in order to begin raising a family and to focus on my other creative endeavor, painting.  

My passion for music was rekindled by a move to Northwest Georgia, where I began writing and performing again.  People seem to like my music and have been responding favorably  to my songs and performances at various clubs, house concerts, festivals, and Songwriter events.  I am currently available for select bookings.  If interested, you may contact me through this website.

I am honored to be included among the performers listed on the website of   The World Folk Music Alliance.   I'm also a member of several songwriter associations, Including: Songwriters Guild of America, BMI, and We R Indie.


A Special Thanks to Neil Young

I'd like to extend a very special thank you to Neil Young for including two of my songs on his website.  "When Your Soldier Comes Back Home" was #1 (for 10 weeks) and bounced around the top of his list of about 3000 songs on his "Living With War Today" page for over 2 1/2 years.  (It can still be heard on his website and is currently available on my Music Store page as a FREE download.)  "Could We Go Back" also reached the #1 spot (for 4 weeks) and is available as a FREE download on my Music Store page.

It's called "Lately..." and features me with my acoustic guitar; some really tasty lead and slide licks by Dennis Brown; Tim Starnes playin' the heck out of his lap steel, fiddle, and harmonica; Josh Dodson wailin' away on his Tenor Sax; and an absolutely great Wolf Den Studio "house" rhythm section put together by Gary Farmer who produced the sessions while holding down the keyboards and just about everything else except the kitchen sink with both "finesse and grace".  There should probably be a law against having "way too much fun" like I did while recording this CD.  I anticipate it will be a very successful endeavor if people enjoy listening to the CD only half as much as I enjoyed making it.  Give the tracks (full versions - no clip teasers) a listen on my "Music Store" page and let me know what you think.  If you've got some extra money laying around, please feel free to buy the CD or download tracks.  If you find yourself a little short on cash,  I hope you'll just enjoy listening for now and buy some of my music when your finances improve.  Meanwhile, the last cut on "Lately..." - entitled "Could We Go Back" - is available as a FREE DOWNLOAD. 

My first CD (Simply...) was recorded with minimal instrumentation to mimic my live performances as a solo act; in fact ... several of the songs were performed with only my voice and guitar.
